~Music Freedom Day activities took place in more than 20 countries
~Singer Lapiro de Mbanda received “Freedom to Create Award”
-he has been in prison for almost 3 years in harsh conditions
-he was allowed to spend one day outside prison to go to trial
-after the trial he was given the award he earned in November 2009
~In Amman, Jordan the “Amman People’s Choir” performed the crying out of the Arab Revolution in a crowded Al Balad Theater
~In Kabul, former exiled DJ Shakeb Isaar presented former banned music
~In Amsterdam a documentary about the show in Kabul was presented
~hibridoradio.com (one of the Music Freedom Day media partners) provided special programs in Italian and Spanish focused on the situation in Latin America
~Some national broadcasters focused on the recent developments of freedom of musical expression in the Middle East
~Others played music smuggled out of Burma from imprisoned musician/activist Win Maw
~The Swedish Society of Popular Music Composers (SKAP) dedicated its’ front page to MFD and a commentary on freedom of musical expression
~Music Freedom Day 2011 received massive international and national media coverage
